And sure, my relationship with Anna-Louise has changed. Much of the earlier urgency is gone, but that's a relief. Ours was never a beer-commercial kind of love to begin with. I used to get depressed because our relationship wasn't more like a beer commercial. You know: warp speed cars blaring nuclear tunes while 20 blondes from Planet Beach roast babies on a spit while threatening to get it on at any moment. You settle for what you can get. If Anna Louise and I make too big a deal about liking each other, it merely reminds us we're not as passionate as we're told we should be. We feel corny. Best not to overthink these issues. I like Anna Louise. We feel natural around each other, and I hope this is enough. I get exhausted thinking there must be more.
